This Christmas, take a fantastical musical pilgrimage through time and space as we travel to the medieval cathedral town of Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain to hear the bells ring on Christmas Day. Our plot follows “The Pilgrim,” an allegorical figure based on Everyman, who is sent on a journey to the end of the earth before the turning of the year. Needless to say, adventure - and lots of beautiful Spanish carols, dances and processionals - abound. Internationally acclaimed storyteller Jay O’Callahan leads a talented 100-member cast including The Revels Chorus of adults and children, musician and song leader David Coffin, actors Angelica Aragon and Billy Meleady, guitarist/soloist Salome Sandoval and the Pilgrim Band, the Pinewoods Morris Men and Cambridge Symphonic Brass Ensemble.
Filled with audience participation and other familiar touchstones like the Sussex Mummers Carol , a seriously funny Mummers Play, and Revels’ signature piece, the joyous Lord of the Dance, this year’s solstice celebration will be the adventure of a lifetime. We hope you can join us!
