The Office for the Arts and the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club are sponsoring a three session seminar in Stage Management, taught by Dana Knox and Eleanor Regan ‘13, the completion of which will make students eligible to participate in professional backstage opportunities such as tours and job shadowing in the downtown Boston Theatre District (see below).
The three sessions will cover The Rehearsal Process, The Tech Process, and The Performance Process. The objective of this seminar is to go over the roles and responsibilities of both the professional stage manager and the ideal role of the stage manager within the Harvard community. There will be detailed digital handout packets for all participants outlining various forms, tools, and skill sets expected. Students who sign up will be expected to attend all three 1-1/2 hour sessions. This seminar is strongly recommended for students interested in Stage Managing, Directing, and Producing, but open to all.
There will be two sections run this autumn: the first from 4pm to 5:30pm Monday 9/17, Monday 9/24, and Monday 10/1; the second from 4pm to 5:30pm Thursday 9/20, Thursday 9/27, and Thursday 10/4.
Students who complete the three session seminar, and who are actively working on productions this year, will be eligible to attend backstage tours and shadowing opportunities at Boston's commercial theatre venues arranged through Dana as they become available throughout the year.
